Reliance Jio has quietly updated its Rs 149 prepaid plan to offer more data to its users and also updated free voice calls policy. The plan previously offered 2GB of 4G data for 28 days and once the data was exhausted, the user had to buy another recharge plan. Nut now the Rs 149 plan has been updated.

The company allows users to make free voice calls, even STD, to any other network for free. Reliance Jio, however, has updated its terms and conditions, putting a cap of 300 minutes on voice calls per day.

Here’s the catch: The cap is not applicable to all users, but only those found “misusing” the free voice service. The company aims to curb the misuse of free voice calling service by pesky telemarketing calls or commercial use. Jio has also clarified that such a cap existed for a very long time and it’s not new.

If the caller extends this duration, all their outgoing calls would be discontinued for the day, the representative added. To restore the service, the affected user would be required to top up their Jio account with Rs. 149

Reliance Jio 149 Plan

The Rs. 149 plan till recently came with 2GB of bundled data with 28 days of validity – once the 2GB data cap was exhausted, the customer would have to buy a top-up voucher. In contrast, most other Jio plans came with unlimited Internet access at a lower speed even after the high-speed FUP was over. With Jio updating the Rs. 149 plan, customers will get unlimited data with this plan as well.

Reliance Jio 149 Plan Update

Reliance Jio will still continue to offer free data on this plan but at reduced speeds. However unlike other plans, where Jio reduces the speed to 128Kbps, with the Rs 149 plan the speed is reset to 64Kbps, which is really low. So technically you’re still getting unlimited data for Rs 149, but the speeds will be on the lower side, in fact, half of what the reduced speeds are on other plans.

Jio’s Rs. 19 and Rs. 49 plans still do not have unlimited Internet access once the FUP is consumed.

Rs 309 Plan: Jio has extended the validity for this plan from 28 days to 56 days.  The Rs 309 recharge now gets you 56GB 4G data for 56 days.

Rs 349 Plan: Jio has extended the validity to 56 days instead of the 28 days before. This recharge will get 10GB + 10GB 4G data for 28 days each. In case you have used the 10GB data within the 28 days then the internet speed will be reduced to 128kbps.

Rs 399 Plan: The new validity is for 84 days. The user will get 84GB 4G data for 84 days. The FUP limit is 1GB per day and post that speed will be reduced to 128 kbps.

Rs 509 Plan: The new validity for this plan is 56 days. Subscriber will get 112GB 4G data for 56 days with this recharge. The FUP limit is 2GB per day.

Rs 999 Plan: The company has extended it to 90 days instead of 60 days before.
