OnePlus 5 Smartphone latest Updates : Specifications, Price leaked ahead of Launch

OnePlus 5 global unveiling on June 20, but in India launch on June 22. Before launching the flagship OnePlus 5, company trying to keep the hype going for the smartphone with teasers on social media. But thanks to a flurry of leaks, we already know what to expect from the next OnePlus flagship. The global unveiling of the smartphone is scheduled for June 20, while a separate OnePlus 5 India launch will happen on June 22. The upcoming OnePlus 5 is widely speculated to sport with dual cameras at the back, and come with iPhone 7 Plus-like setup which is likely to be the biggest highlight. Some of the other notable features rumored include that Flagship Smartphone will equipped with Snapdragon 835 processor, and 8GB of RAM.

OnePlus 5 Price in India

The main speculations are going on about the prices of OnePlus 5 smartphone in India for the 6GB RAM and 64GB storage model is said to be Rs. 32,999, while the 8GB of RAM and 128GB storage model is said to cost Rs. 37,999. If these turn out to be the actual prices, the next flagship will be the most expensive OnePlus smartphone yet.

Corroborating the higher price tag, a previous leak also suggested European pricing for the OnePlus 5 which is likely to be EUR 550 (roughly Rs. 39,990). To refresh, the OnePlus 3T was launched last year in India at Rs. 29,999 for the 64GB variant, and Rs. 34,999 for the 128GB variant. For availability, Amazon India source code has already revealed that the OnePlus 5 will be exclusive to the e-commerce website, and will go on sale the same day as India launch.

OnePlus 5 Pop-Up Events in India

These events will happen between June 23 and June 25; where New Delhi will begin at 13:00-21:00 (IST +5:30 hours) on June 23; June 24, Bangalore at 12:30-22:00 and Chennai between 15:00-21:00, on the final day Hyderabad 15:00-21:00.

OnePlus haven’t announced the official price in India yet; if we take numbers from the rumor mill, the expected price will be Rs. 32,999 (~$513) for the 64GB paired with 6GB RAM model, whilst the 128GB and 8GB RAM model will be set at Rs. 37,999 (~$590).

Due to the large fan base in India, OnePlus may expect large crowds of fans on each day, especially in populous cities such as New Delhi and Chennai.

Before the pop-up events begin, OnePlus will be launching the OnePlus at a live event on June 22, 14:00 (IST) at NSCI Dome Mumbai.

As the days grow closer, we hope the OnePlus 5 hype will not be a disappointment. We will be expecting OnePlus to provide a continuous record of high-quality flagships, keeping in mind that OnePlus hasn’t solidly confirmed what the components are in their fifth installment (counting the 3T as their fourth).

OnePlus 5 Specs

OnePlus 5 is confirmed to feature the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, with clock speed of 2.35GHz. While earlier both OnePlus and Qualcomm had said, it will be the first smartphone in India with Snapdragon 835, Sony has already beaten the Chinese brand to the punch with the India launch of its Xperia XZ Premium.

OnePlus 5 biggest rumoured about it’s variants : According to latest leaks the flagship will be available in two variants: 6GB RAM + 64GB storage, and 8GB RAM + 128GB storage. It is said to run on Android 7.1 Nougat out-of-the-box. The smartphone is said to sport a 23-megapixel rear camera and a 16-megapixel camera at the front for selfies. As the device sports a dual camera setup at the back, how does 23-megapixel sensor fits in the scheme of things is currently unclear.

Other rumoured about include a front-facing fingerprint sensor, and a camera developed in partnership with DxO. The company also teased a camera sample showing excellent lowlight performance. Pete Lau, Founder and CEO, OnePlus has also been teasing the camera samples of the OnePlus 5 which have been focusing on the capabilities of dual cameras. The camera sample shared so far has claim the OnePlus 5 will have “DSLR-like quality”. OnePlus has already confirmed that it has partnered with DxO to develop a better camera for the new OnePlus.

OnePlus 5 design

The phone is also likely to sport a slim profile, and is said to be “slimmest flagship smartphone” from the company. OnePlus CEO Pete Lau on Weibo had teased that the OnePlus 5 will be the slimmest flagship smartphone yet though it wasn’t clear whether he meant the slimmest among all the flagship smartphones out there or the slimmest among the OnePlus flagships.

The new image showcases the bottom of the device, which houses its USB Type-C port, a single speaker grill, and what looks like a 3.5mm headphone jack, seemingly confirming rumors that the company has decided to stick with the port instead of ditching it like other manufacturers have done this year.
