Xiaomiย launched the Redmi Note 3 smartphone in India. One of the talking points of the phablet is its full metal unibody design,ย fingerprint scanner located at the back and Qualcommโs latest Snapdragon 650 processor. It boasts top of the line hardware for a phablet under sub Rs 12,000 range. We pitย the Redmi Note 3 with theย LeEco Le 1s and Lenovo K4 Note based on their price, specifications and features, and hereโs how they compare.
Price:ย The Redmi Note 3 16GB variant with 2GB RAM is priced at Rs 9,999, whereas the 32GB variant with 3GB of RAM is priced at Rs 11,999. The Le 1s is priced at Rs 10,999 and available exclusively via Flipkart, whereas the Lenovo K4 Note is priced at Rs 11,900 and exclusive to Amazon India.
Specifications and features:ย While theย Redmi Note 3 and Le 1s sport a full metal unibody design, the Lenovo K4 Note sports a metal frame along the edges. All three smartphones are equipped with a fingerprint scanner at the backย for added security. Lenovo K4 Note also features dual frontal speakers and โTheaterMaxโ VR technology which lets you use the ANTVR headset and watch any game or video with immersive large screen experience.
All three smartphones, the Redmi Note 3, Le 1s and the Lenovo K4 Note sport a 5.5-inch full HD (1080p) display. While the Lenovo K4 Note display can notch brightness to 450 nits, Le 1s can offer anย impressive brightness level of 500 nits. The Redmi Note 3 has what Xiaomi calls the โsunlight displayโ which automatically changes the brightness and contrast according to the ambient light.
At the heart of the Redmi Note 3 runs Qualcommโs Snapdragon 650 hexa-core chipset withย two Cortex-A72 cores and four A53 corespaired with 2GB of RAM for 16GB variant and 3GB of RAM for 32GB variant. It also includes a hybrid SIM card slot, which lets you use either two SIM cards or one SIM card and a microSD card.
According to benchmark results, the Snapdragon 650 processor beats the other two easily.
For shutterbugs, the Redmi Note 3 is equipped with a 16-megapixel rear snapper with phase detection auto-focus and LED flash, whereas the Le 1s sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with phase detection auto-focus, LED flash and support for 4K video recording. The K4 Note features a 13-megapixel rear snapper of aperture f/2.2 with dual-LED flash and PDAF.ย Up front, all three smartphones feature a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calling.
On the battery front, the Redmi Note 3 is armed with 4,000mAh and 4,050mAh non-removable battery on 16GB and 32GB variants, respectively. The Le 1s is equipped with a 3,000mAh battery with fast charging feature. LeEco claims that even five minutes of charging can offer talktime of up to three and half hours. The K4 Note is armed with a 3,300mAh battery, which Lenovo claims is good enough to offer talk time of up to 22 hours.
In terms of connectivity, all three smartphones include dual-SIM card slots with 4G LTE connectivity, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS. The Redmi Note 3 also supports VoLTE. While Redmi Note 3 and Le 1s feature a microUSB port, the Le 1s gets the latest USB Type-C connectivity port.
On the software front, the Redmi Note 3 runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop wrapped under MIUI 7, the Le 1s runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop wrapped under custom EUI skin and Lenovo K4 Note runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop wrapped under Vibe UI.
On paper, the Redmi Note 3 seems to have an edge over the LeEco Le 1s and Lenovo K4 Note, but we will reserve our judgment until we review all three devices.
