Yu Televentures, the Micromax Online subsidiary that has been largely silent since August last year, has launched its YU Yureka Black smartphone in India at Rs 8,999 on Thursday. It will be exclusively available on Flipkart, and sales start June 5 midnight. Apart from the new black colour variant, YU Yureka is different from the original Yureka (2014) in terms of specifications as well.

The YU Yureka Black runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box. YU Yureka Black sports with 5-inch Full HD display (1080×1920 pixels) with a 2.5D curved glass design. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It will be powered by an 1.4Ghz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 MSM8937 64-bit processor and the Adreno 510 GPU couples with 4GB RAM and 32GB of onboard storage which is further expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card.
With a superior metal finish, the Yureka Black is designed to impress. Boasting 4 GB of RAM and a 1.4 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor, this smartphone packs quite a punch, making every task smooth and fast. Its 13 MP Sony IMX 258 rear camera helps you capture life’s beautiful moments in picture-perfect photos. The 8 MP selfie camera of the Yureka Black, with its selfie flash, lets you take stunning selfies even in poorly lit conditions. Watch movies, play games or shop online – the 12.7 cm (5) FHD IPS display is made to offer an impressive viewing experience. YU Yureka comes with a metal unobody design. The dual SIM smartphone supports 4G VoLTE. YU Yureka Black gets a 13MP rear camera with dual LED flash and with Sony IMX 258 sensor. The front camera is 8MP with selfie flash. It is backed by a 3,000mAh battery. The connectivity options available on the smartphone include dual-SIM support (hybrid SIM Slot), 4G, VoLTE, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. More features on the YU Yureka Black include gestures on the lock screen, one-handed mode, The home button doubles up as a fingerprint scanner. The YU Yureka Black will be available in chrome black and matte black finish.
Yu has launched nine smartphones since it was started in 2014 in India. To recall, the last two smartphones launched under Yu brand were the Yunique Plus and Yureka S. The smartphones were launched in August last year. The Yunique Plus was launched at Rs. 6,999, while the Yu Yureka S at Rs. 12,999.
The pricing places the smartphone in the budget segment, where it will compete with the likes of Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, Lenovo K6 Power, and Coolpad Note 5. It has been a while since YU Televentures launched a smartphone and India. We’ll have to wait and watch if the company can work its magic with YU Yureka Black.
