Nokia 8 has been finally launched in India. Nokia 8, the newly launched flagship smartphone from HMD Global will be manufactured entirely in India. Nokia 8 is priced at Rs 36,999 in India and will go on sale from October 14 on Amazon India and other offline retail channels. The smartphone has several highlight features, including its top-end Snapdragon 835 SoC, its dual rear camera setup and ‘bothies’ camera feature, as well as its premium unibody design crafted from a single block of 6000 series aluminium. Apart from the Nokia 8 price in India, HMD Global also revealed the Nokia 8 availability in India. Online, the smartphone is an Amazon-exclusive offering, much like the Nokia 6, but it will also be available via offline stores.

Nokia 8 price in India is Rs. 36,999. Nokia 8 comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The smartphone will be available from October 14 on Amazon India, Croma, Reliance, Sangeetha Mobiles, Poorvika, and BigC, apart from other offline stores. The Nokia 8 will be launched in Polished Blue Tempered Blue, and Steel colour variants. The Polished Copper variant will go on sale a few weeks later. The company at the launch event said all Nokia 8 models sold in India will be made in India. Nokia 8 launch offers include 100GB of additional Jio data – 10GB extra data a month for up to 10 recharges (Rs. 309 and above) until August 2018. Nokia 8 consumers will also have access to special Nokia Mobile Care Concierge Service in 50 cities across the country. Nokia 8 consumers from these 50 cities can avail of Nokia Mobile Care services from the convenience of their homes.

The dual-SIM (Nano) Nokia 8 runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box, with an update to Android 8.0 Oreo promised. The Nokia 8 smartphone bears a Quad HD display, 5.3-inch panel has a resolution of 2560 x 1440 and is covered by 2.5D Gorilla Glass 5 for protection against nicks and scratches. The smartphone is IP54 rated, which makes it splash proof. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC (4 Kryo cores clocked at 2.5GHz and 4 Kryo cores clocked at 1.8GHz) the Adreno 540 GPU, coupled with 4GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 64GB of internal storage which can be expanded via a microSD card of up to 256GB.
The device is a powerhouse. It comes with Qualcomm’s latest and greatest chipset – the Snapdragon 835 alongside 4GB of RAM, the Adreno 540 GPU, a 3,090mAh battery with QuickCharge 3.0 support. The smartphone also has an innovative heat management solution – a full-length graphite shielded copper cooling pipe dissipates heat across the full length and breadth of the smartphone.
The dual rear camera setup on the smartphone includes ZEISS powered two 13-megapixel sensors – one is an RGB sensor and features optical image stabilisation (OIS), while the other is a monochrome sensor, which allows for better low-light photography and the capture of images with depth of field effects. Both sensors have an aperture of f/2.0. The rear camera setup can shoot videos in 4K and comes with a dual LED flash and phase detection autofocus. The front 13MP camera comes with a display flash, phase detection autofocus and an aperture of f/2.0.
On the front, the smartphone bears another 13-megapixel sensor with PDAF, 1.12-micron pixels, a f/2.0 aperture, and a 78.4-degree wide-angle lens. All three cameras come with Carl Zeiss optics. The company is touting the ‘bothies’ feature with the smartphone, allowing users to take photos or videos using the front and rear cameras simultaneously. The device is also optimised for one-touch live-streaming via Facebook Live and YouTube Live. Also on board is OZO Audio tech for spatial 360-degree audio recording (using 3 microphones), including an Audio Focus mode.
Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, USB Type-C (v3.1), and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Sensors on board include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, barometer, digital compass, gyroscope, and a proximity sensor. Bearing a 3090mAh non-removable battery, the Nokia 8 measures 151.5×73.7×7.9mm.
