Indian Mobile Manufacturing Company Karbonn Mobile launched Budget Smartphone Karbonn K9 Kavach 4G with pre-installed BHIM (Bharat Interface for Money) app. Karbonn K9 Kavach 4G launched at Rs 5,290. The smartphone will be available in three colour variants. The company said that the BHIM app’s access and securitization mechanisms have been integrated at a firmware level, making it safer to use. NPCI officials were also present at the launch event. The company is also touting the security benefits of the fingerprint sensor.

The company is also looking to add e-KYC, Digilocker, access to e-gov services, P2P transactions from the phonebook, contextual payments on messenger apps, as well as bill payments and utility services.
Karbonn K9 Kavach 4G smartphone comes with dual-SIM and runs Android 7.0 Nougat, and sports a 5-inch HD 720×1280 pixels IPS display. It is powered by a 1.25GHz quad-core processor that’s coupled with 1GB of RAM and 8GB ROM (expandable up to 32GB via a microSD card).
Karbonn K9 Kavach 4G features a 5MP rear camera with autofocus and flash. The front camera is also 5MP with flash.
The Karbonn K9 Kavach 4G comes with 8GB of inbuilt storage that’s expandable via microSD card (up to 32GB). As for connectivity options, the smartphone includes 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, Micro-USB, FM radio, and a 3.5mm audio jack. The smartphone is powered by a 2300mAh battery.
Karbonn K9 Kavach 4G comes with a fingerprint sensor as well. The sensor can be used to make secure transactions. K9 Kavach packs feature like smart finger touch dialling, locking device and apps, as well as capturing images.
