Domestic smartphone brand Lava on Tuesday launched a brand new budget smartphone, Lava A93. Lava A93 has HD display and a 3000mAh battery at Rs. 7,999. The dual-SIM Lava A93 smartphone is listed on company’s website in gold and grey colour options. At this price point, the smartphone will look to compete against the Redmi 4, Moto C Plus, and the recently launched InFocus Turbo 5 – however, it has one major missing feature: 4G VoLTE support.
Lava A93 Features
Lava A93 runs on Android 6.0 and sports a 5.5-inch HD 720×1280 display. It is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor along with 2GB of RAM with 16GB Inbuilt storage, this is expandable via microSD card up to 32GB. In terms of design, the smartphone features a camera module and a speaker grille on the back with antenna lines running along the top and bottom of the handset. Power button and volume rocker keys are at the right. The smartphone uses capacitive touch buttons and there’s no physical home button.
Moving over to the optics, the Lava A93 houses an 8-megapixel rear camera and 2-megapixel front facing camera, both of which come with LED flash. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, Edge, FM radio, a USB Type 2.0 charging port, and a 3.5 mm headset jack. It measures 145 x 72.2 x 8.85 mm and weighs 152 grammes. The smartphone supports G-Sensor. Other features of Lava A93 include smart screenshot, video PIP, smart music, and smart gestures. Lava A93 comes with one year manufacturer warranty for phone along with six months warranty for in-box accessories.
Priced at Rs. 7,999 the Lava A93 feels quite underwhelming given that many the phones from companies like Xiaomi and Motorola are offering a lot more in terms of design and specifications, including 4G VoLTE support at this price point. Lava A93 isn’t 4G-enabled, which might make it a less preferred option when compared to its competitors. Most smartphones, including the entry-level ones, come equipped with 4G these days. For example Xiaomi Redmi 4, Redmi Note 4, Moto C, Lenovo Vibe K5, and Moto G4 Play are all 4G-enabled smartphones priced under Rs 10,000.
