Chinese Smartphone company Coolpad has launched its flagship smartphone CoolPad Cool Play 6 in the Indian market at Rs. 14,999. The device sports a 5.3 inch IPS display that comes with full HD resolution. The phone was launched in China in May this year, and the company says it has customised the Cool Play 6 for the Indian market. Cool Play 6 will be available exclusively via Amazon India, the handset will go on sale in the country on September 4 in Gold and Black colors.
Coolpad Cool Play 6 Specifications
The new CoolPad Cool Play 6 smartphone has 5.5-inch full-HD 1080×1920 pixels display. The device also comes with Android 7.1.1 that comes with Coolpad’s own Journey OS on top of it. The OS design is intuitive as it comes without an app drawer and makes the access to apps easier. The phone will get Android 8.0 update by December 2017, the company says. Under the hood is the 1.4GHz octa-core Snapdragon 653 processor (four 1.95GHz cores + four 1.44GHz cores), backed by 6GB of RAM. Coolpad Cool Play 6 has 64GB inbuilt storage, with provision for storage expansion via microSD cards; the dual-SIM (Nano+Nano) phone features hybrid setup.
Another highlight of the device is the dual-camera setup with a 13MP+13MP sensors setup on the back, with f/2.0 aperture, dual-tone, dual-LED flash, and support for HDR. The camera app is easy to use and you can shoot bokeh images with this one, but Coolpad renames it as SLR effect on the Cool Play 6. The device is also capable of shooting 4K videos. The selfie camera is rated at 8 megapixels and can shoot 16:9 aspect ratio selfies only in 6-megapixel resolution. The front camera has an 8-megapixel sensor with f/2.2 aperture. The front camera does not record 4K videos but is capable of shooting 1080p HD videos. There is also facial recognition on the front camera that’s similar to the one that you see on Xiaomi devices.
Connectivity features of the Coolplay 6 include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and USB Type-C. The phone has a 4000mAh battery, and Coolpad claims it has through software optimisations ensured the device delivers the performance of a 4500mah battery.

While launching the Coolpad Cool Play 6, the company’s India head also announced it will bring the Coolpad S1 Changer, Harmon/Kardon audio enhancements, in the country around Diwali.
Coolpad Global CEO James Du says the company is planning to open exclusive service centres in at least 5 cities in the next 6 months. The phone will be manufactured at Videocon’s Aurangabad plant as part of the company’s Make in India efforts.
