Royal Enfield has just unveiled its latest offering, the Himalayan 450, at the 2023 Motoverse. The excitement is real, but there’s a catch to the revealed prices – they’re introductory and set to climb after January 1. Starting at a reasonable Rs. 2.69 lakh, the base variant of the Himalayan 450 is quite the steal. If you’re eyeing the Slate models, they come in at Rs. 2.74 lakh.

For those aiming higher, there are two top-tier models – the Summit, priced at Rs. 2.79 lakh, and the Hanle Black, which sits at Rs. 2.84 lakh. Interestingly, these top models share the same features and differ only in their captivating paint schemes. It’s worth noting that these introductory prices are a treat for customers who make their bookings online or through showrooms before December 31. However, come January 1, Royal Enfield plans to give these prices a hike that you might want to factor into your decision.

Dealers are buzzing with information too. If you book the bike before January 1 but decide to switch up the color in the New Year, be prepared to pay the updated price. In terms of features, this adventure bike comes with a cool 4-inch round TFT instrument console that lets you control your music and phone. It’s got full-fledged Google Maps for navigation and can connect to your helmet communication device. Plus, it’s equipped with switchable ABS, ride-by-wire technology with different riding modes, and all-LED lighting, including integrated taillights and turn signals. Oh, and there’s a handy USB C-type charging port too.

Now, let’s talk about what’s under the hood. The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 is powered by a 452cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder ‘Sherpa’ engine, delivering a solid 40PS at 8000rpm and 40Nm at 5500rpm. It comes with a 6-speed gearbox that features a slip-and-assist clutch for smoother shifts. When it comes to the ride, the Himalayan 450 doesn’t disappoint. It sports a 43mm upside-down (USD) fork with 200mm wheel travel and a monoshock with a 200mm wheel travel suspension setup. Braking is taken care of by a 320mm front disc with a double-piston caliper and a 320mm disc with a double-piston caliper, both equipped with switchable dual-channel ABS.

The bike rocks a 90/90-21 Ceat Gripp RE F front tire and a 140/80 R 17 Ceat Gripp Rad Steel RE (steel radial) rear tire. With a wheelbase of 1510mm, ground clearance of 230mm, and a seat height that’s adjustable between 825mm and 845mm, it’s designed for a comfortable and versatile ride. The standard seat can be set at 825mm, and with the low seat, you get options at 805mm. Weighing in at 196kg and equipped with a 17-liter fuel tank, the Himalayan 450 is ready for your next adventure. And, of course, it’s got some fierce competition. The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 goes head-to-head with the KTM 390 Adventure (spoke wheel variant) and the upcoming Hero XPulse 400.
